Product recalls are costly to food producers in more way than one. The actual cost of the goods produced and the cost of return or disposal are measurable costs. What about the damage done to a producers reputation?

3000 Pounds of Beef Recalled:

In December of 2011 over 3000 pounds of "Seasoned Cooked Beef Diced Manufactured by Culinary Standards" were recalled due to a conveyor belt that was damaged during production. There was concern that the products that were produced may have been contaminated by small pieces of the belt.

This recall may have been eliminated with the use of metal detectable material used in the conveyor belt.

Slideways offers metal detectable properties in many different materials!

Slideways can manufacture your components from Food Grade materials that have a metal detectable characteristic. We have metal detectable UHMW, Nylatron and Acetal materials. The Nylatron and Acetal products are available in a blue color and the UHMW is available in grey.

Using these materials may help to avoid costly recalls and still provide low friction long lasting plastic components.
